Fresh Venus: A Culinary Journey Through the Caribbean.
I was born into a family of cooks. My mother, Lucienne Styl Charles, had a deep admiration for cooking. She never grew tired when it came to preparing a meal. Growing up, I discovered this same passion in my father, Marc Styl. He always had a special dish to prepare, especially when goods arrived from Gonaives, his hometown. His food had a unique taste, a fragrance that made life feel richer. I remember my father calling my four brothers and me to take us to the market, teaching us how to select ingredients so we could learn to prepare our own meals.
The entire family learned to cook with passion. In our neighborhood, to mark the end of summer and celebrate the year-end festivities, we would cook for everyone so that all the young people in the community could enjoy a meal together while listening to music, dancing, laughing, and playing educational games.
Upon arriving in the United States, I discovered that Haitian cuisine is loved by many. Thanks to its diversity, rich spices, and the way we blend our ingredients, countless communities are delighted to bring Haitian dishes to their tables.
My dream was to open a Haitian restaurant that serves as a beacon for our Haitian brothers and sisters. Due to the fast-paced lifestyle in the United States, many Haitians often lose touch with the flavors of their traditional cuisine because they lack the time to cook.

After spending some time in Florida, life brought me back to New York following the passing of my beloved mother. I returned to console my sister, Judith, as we navigated the loss together.I found myself at home, expecting my first child during this time.
While I couldn’t work due to health challenges, I discovered happiness and joy in cooking for friends who visited me. Each visit became an opportunity to share my love for Haitian cuisine, and soon, word spread. Friends began calling, requesting authentic Haitian dishes that brought back the comforting flavors of home. What started as a small way to connect with loved ones became a dream.Weekends became filled with special orders, and with each dish, the idea of creating something bigger took shape. Today, that dream is a reality. Fresh Venus Caribbean Restaurant is a celebration of Haitian culture, flavors, and the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean. Our mission is to bring the rich traditions of Creole cuisine to life, offering dishes that transport you to the heart of Haiti with every bite.
